The sudden blockage and difficulty in rotating the rotating ring during the
operation of the vertical ring high gradient magnetic separator is a more
serious fault than the decrease in processing capacity. Once the rotating ring
gets stuck, the magnetic medium cannot unload the iron normally, and the sorting
operation is forced to be interrupted. Forcefully starting may also burn out the
motor or twist the spindle.

Foreign objects entering between the rotating ring and the magnetic pole are
common causes of jamming. The broken steel bars, bolts, large pieces of ore,
etc. mixed in the feed are stuck in the gap between the rotating ring and the
magnetic pole, and are supported by hard objects when the rotating ring rotates.
After discovering a blockage, the machine should be stopped immediately, the
power should be cut off, and the blockage position should be manually confirmed
by turning the wheel. Remove the side cover and gently tap the edge of the
swivel ring with a copper rod or wooden mallet, attempting to reverse the
rotation to remove the foreign object. After removing the foreign object, clean
it thoroughly and inspect the surface of the swivel and magnetic pole for any
damage.
Poor or damaged bearing lubrication can also cause difficulty in rotating the
ring. Rotary bearings work in high load and dusty environments for a long time,
with fast consumption of lubricating grease. After a lack of oil, the ball
bearings wear and the cage deforms, resulting in increasing rotational
resistance. It is recommended to replenish lithium based grease every 500
working hours and replace it thoroughly every six months. When checking, rotate
the rotating ring by hand. If there is a noticeable jolt or abnormal noise, it
indicates that the bearing is damaged and needs to be replaced immediately.
Tightness of the V-belt is also an easily overlooked cause of jamming. Some
models are driven by triangular belts, and when the belt is adjusted too
tightly, the motor load increases, making it easy to get stuck when encountering
slight resistance. The correct approach is to adjust the belt tension to a level
that is just right and not slipping. Once a jamming occurs, the V-belt can
spontaneously slip, protecting the motor and gearbox from damage.
Pay attention to observing changes in the current of the rotating ring during
daily operation, as a continuous increase in current often indicates that
jamming is about to occur. Do not forcefully start the rotating ring when it is
found to be not rotating smoothly. Check the turning gear first and then decide
on a solution. For equipment operation related issues, please call Manager Zhang
