In the wet iron removal process of quartz sand using permanent magnet drum
magnetic separators, the deviation of the iron discharge belt is a problem
encountered by many customers. After the belt deviates, one side is severely
worn and the other side is suspended. The iron powder cannot be removed
completely, and the edge of the belt makes abnormal noise due to friction with
the frame. The problem usually lies in belt tension, roller adjustment, and drum
parallelism.
Inconsistent tension on both sides is the most common reason for deviation.
The unloading iron belt is tightened by the tensioning devices on both sides. If
the adjustment amount of the tensioning bolts on both sides is different, the
belt will tighten and loosen on one side, and naturally deviate towards the
loose side during operation. When adjusting, first loosen all the tension bolts
on both sides and re tighten them evenly until the belt does not slip or
deviate. Observe whether the belt is centered during operation, and tighten the
tension bolt on which side it runs appropriately. Adjust it half a turn each
time and observe for ten minutes before making further adjustments.
Improper adjustment of the idler can also cause the belt to deviate. The
function of the idler is to support the belt and guide its running direction.
When the axis of the idler is not perpendicular to the running direction of the
belt, the belt generates lateral force on the idler. Adjust the positioning
bolts of the roller bracket to make the roller axis parallel to the drum axis,
with a deviation controlled within 1mm. Use a ruler to compare the side of the
roller with the side of the drum, and visually observe whether the belt is
centered.
When the parallelism deviation of the drum is large, it is difficult to
correct the belt deviation through tension and roller adjustment. Use a spirit
level to check if the heights at both ends of the drum are consistent. If the
deviation exceeds 1mm, adjust the drum base gasket. After calibrating the
parallelism of the drum, readjust the belt tension and roller position. When the
surface wear of the drum is uneven, the belt will deviate at the groove, and the
drum with severe wear needs to be replaced.
During daily inspections, observe whether the belt runs in the center during
each shift. If any deviation is found, adjust the tension bolt in a timely
manner. Do not wait until the edge of the belt is worn out before dealing with
it. Encountering problems during equipment operation, welcome to contact the
