Reducing the Moisture Content and Energy Consumption of Filter Cake: Application of Shanlu Heavy Industry Ceramic Filter in Quartz Sand Wet Process Line

In the production of quartz sand sheet sand and fracturing sand, the wet process can balance particle shape control and impurity removal. Shanlu Heavy Industry provides a complete equipment combination from rod grinding, scrubbing to grading, magnetic separation, and dehydration, suitable for scenarios with high requirements for sand roundness and surface cleanliness.

Taking a typical wet process board sand production line as an example: the raw sand is fed into a quartz sand wet process rod mill through an LC automatic weighing feeder. The device is equipped with chromium alloy steel rods inside the cylinder, which grind the material through linear contact between the rods. The output particle size of the rod mill is uniform, with less over crushing phenomenon, and the finished sand particle shape is cubic, which is conducive to the particle size distribution of the board sand. The discharged slurry flows into the CX scrubbing machine. The device consists of a stirring tank and an impeller group, which uses high-intensity stirring to make the sand particles rub against each other, removing surface attachments and iron films. The scrubbing concentration is controlled at 60% -70%, the scrubbing time can be adjusted, and the cleanliness of the sand surface is improved after treatment.

The cleaned slurry enters the SF hydraulic classifier for particle size classification. The classifier designed by Shanlu Heavy Industry uses upward water flow to separate fine and coarse particles, and can obtain standard ranges of sand such as 40-70 mesh and 70-140 mesh. The fine powder in the graded overflow enters the NM thickener for concentration, and the bottom flow of the thickener is then sent to the pressure filtration system. The graded coarse sand enters the PBC permanent magnet wet plate magnetic separator for iron removal. The device adopts a flat magnetic separation structure, with a magnetic field strength of up to 6000Gs. When the slurry flows through the surface of the flat plate, magnetic particles are adsorbed to the magnetic field zone, and non-magnetic sand is discharged with the water flow. After flat plate magnetic separation, the Fe ₂ O Ⅲ content of the sand material can be controlled below 150ppm, meeting the requirements of the second grade sand for sheet materials.

The refined sand after magnetic separation needs to be dehydrated. Shanlu Heavy Industry has chosen BTC ceramic filter machine for this process. This device utilizes the principle of capillary action, where the micropores on the ceramic filter plate only allow water to pass through and solid particles are intercepted. When the filter is running, the moisture content of the filter cake can be as low as 8% -10%, and it can be directly stored without drying. Compared to traditional belt filters, BTC ceramic filters have the characteristics of low energy consumption, clear filtrate, and continuous operation. The filtered tailings slurry can be sent to the thickener and combined with the front-end overflow for treatment.
