In the processing of high-purity quartz sand, the dry process is suitable for
materials that are sensitive to moisture or for scenarios that require
subsequent high-temperature treatment. Shanlu Heavy Industry provides a complete
set of equipment from fine grinding, grading to magnetic separation and drying,
which has been applied in projects such as photovoltaic quartz sand and high
white board sand.
Taking a typical dry fine grinding and purification line as an example: the
raw sand is pre treated and enters the MQX dry fine powder ball mill. The device
is lined with wear-resistant ceramic or silica lining plates inside the
cylinder, and high alumina balls or zirconia balls are used as grinding media to
avoid iron pollution. The discharge fineness can be adjusted to 200 mesh to 325
mesh, meeting the particle size requirements of high-purity sand for micro
powder products. The discharge from the ball mill is sent to the QF vertical
airflow classifier through the elevator. This classifier adopts the principle of
vortex aerodynamics, and by adjusting the speed of the grading wheel and the
secondary air volume, it can obtain finished products with narrow particle size
distribution. The QF classifier designed by Shanlu Heavy Industry has precise
cutting points and can produce multiple specifications of products within the
range of D90=10-45 μ m.
The graded fine powder often contains weak magnetic impurities, which need to
be purified by magnetic separation. Shanlu Heavy Industry will equip CXG high
field permanent magnet roller magnetic separator at this stage. This device uses
rare earth neodymium iron boron magnetic material, and the magnetic field
strength on the roller surface can reach over 12000Gs, which is suitable for
separating weak magnetic impurities in fine particles in dry powder. The
material is evenly distributed onto the surface of the magnetic roller through a
vibrating feeder, and the magnetic particles are adsorbed and detached with the
rotation of the roller. Non magnetic quartz sand falls freely, thus achieving
sorting. After CXG magnetic separation, the Fe ₂ O3 content in the fine powder
can be reduced to below 80ppm.
If the purified quartz sand powder is used for electronic packaging or
precision casting, the moisture content needs to be controlled. Shanlu Heavy
Industry uses HGS triple return drum dryer for drying treatment. The dryer
consists of three concentric cylinders, with long travel and sufficient heat
exchange between the material and the hot air flow inside the cylinders.
Compared to a single drum dryer, the thermal efficiency is increased by about
30% and fuel consumption is reduced. The moisture content of the discharged
material can be controlled within 0.5% to meet the requirements for subsequent
packaging or use.
