Fracturing sand has strict requirements for the particle size, roundness,
acid solubility, and turbidity of quartz sand. Shanlu Heavy Industry provides a

Taking a typical fracturing sand production line as an example, the raw sand
is first crushed and shaped before entering the YTS drum screen for preliminary
classification. The cylinder of the equipment adopts a polyurethane sieve plate,
and the aperture can be customized according to the particle size requirements.
During the operation of the drum screen, the material rotates and flips along
with the cylinder, making it less likely to clog the holes. After screening,
coarse sand particles such as 20-40 mesh and 40-70 mesh enter the next process,
while fine powder is collected as a by-product. Subsequently, the sand material
enters the SCF flotation machine for flotation and impurity removal. Flotation
is the process of utilizing the differences in physical and chemical properties
between the surfaces of impurity minerals such as quartz, feldspar, and mica. By
adding collectors and foaming agents, impurity minerals are attached to bubbles
and floated up, and then scraped off. The SCF flotation machine designed by
Shanlu Heavy Industry adopts a DC tank body and stator rotor stirring system,
with adjustable aeration and controllable flotation time. After flotation, the
content of feldspar in the sand material significantly decreased, and the acid
solubility index improved, meeting the requirements of SY/T5108 standard for
fracturing sand.
After dewatering, the flotation fine sand is sent to the DTS vibrating
dewatering screen. Unlike conventional dewatering screens, the dewatering
process of fracturing sand requires higher turbidity of the screened water.
Shanlu Heavy Industry has equipped the screening machine with a double-layer
high elasticity polyurethane screen, with a vibration frequency of 24Hz, and the
moisture content of the dehydrated sand material is controlled within 12%. The
tailings slurry with a solid content of about 5% is sieved and enters the NM
thickener for sedimentation and concentration. The thickener is fed at the
center, and the rake speed can be adjusted. The bottom flow concentration can
reach over 45%, and the suspended solids in the overflow water are below 300ppm,
which can achieve water resource reuse.
For some high-end fracturing sands that require further improvement in
corrosion resistance, Shanlu Heavy Industry is equipped with a high-temperature
chlorination furnace for surface modification treatment. The chlorination
furnace is a rotary structure, and the furnace tube material is made of
high-temperature resistant nickel based alloy, with a working temperature of up
to 1100 ℃. The sand material comes into contact with chlorine gas or
chlorinating agent in the furnace, and impurities such as iron and titanium on
the surface are converted into volatile chlorides and removed. At the same time,
the surface of the sand particles is passivated to a certain extent. After
chlorination treatment, the acid solubility of the sand material can be reduced
to below 3%, and the anti crushing ability is improved.
