Drum screen is widely used in the pre classification stage after quartz sand
crushing, but when the material moisture content is high, fine powder is prone
to adhere to the inner wall of the screen hole, causing blockage, and the
screening efficiency drops sharply from the design value of over 85% to below
60%.
First, check if the mesh size matches the particle size of the material. If
the aperture is too small, it is easy to get stuck, and if it is too large, the
screening accuracy will be insufficient. If the moisture content of the material
exceeds 5%, it is recommended to install a simple dryer or hot air duct at the
front end of the drum screen to reduce the moisture content to below 3% before
entering the screening process. The screen cleaning device cannot be ignored
either. If the conventional roller brush or scraper is severely worn, it will
lose its cleaning function and needs to be replaced in a timely manner. After
stopping the machine, using a high-pressure water gun to flush and block the
sieve holes is also an immediate solution. It is important to note that the
water pressure should not be too high to avoid damaging the sieve mesh.
