Is the inflation volume of the flotation machine not adjustable? Is the dosage incorrect? Take a look at these two points

2026-08-11

The flotation machine is used for the separation of quartz sand from feldspar and mica. Many companies have reported significant fluctuations in flotation indicators and high consumption of reagents. The problem often lies not in the equipment itself, but in the operational details of the two stages of aeration and reagent addition.

Let's talk about the inflation volume first. Quartz sand flotation usually uses a direct current cell flotation machine, and the size of the aeration directly determines the number and size of bubbles. Many operators rely on intuition to adjust the intake valve, resulting in fluctuating inflation levels. When the inflation volume is too large, the bubbles merge seriously, the flotation foam layer is unstable, and when the inflation volume is too small, the number of bubbles is insufficient, and the impurities do not float completely. It is recommended to install a rotameter on the air inlet pipe, control the inflation volume within the range of 0.8-1.2m ³/m ² · min, and fine tune it according to the thickness and color of the foam layer. The foam layer is 15-20cm thick, bright white or light gray. If the foam layer is too thin or dark, it needs to be adjusted.

Let's talk about adding medication. Amine collectors are more effective under acidic or neutral conditions, and pH fluctuations directly affect the effectiveness of the agents. The common problem is that the pH detection of the mixing tank is not timely, and when the pH value deviates from the optimal range, the dosage of the agent needs to be doubled to achieve the same effect, which not only wastes the agent but also affects the indicators. It is recommended to check the pH value of the slurry every 2 hours to maintain a stable pH value within the range of 2.5-3.5 (acidic method) or 6.5-7.5 (neutral method). In terms of drug addition, it is recommended to use an automatic dosing machine for quantitative addition to avoid fluctuations caused by manual operation.

The key to the stability of flotation indicators lies in three aspects: stable aeration, accurate dosing, and constant pH. By focusing on these three points, the grade and recovery rate of flotation fine sand will naturally not be inferior.
