The vertical ring high gradient magnetic separator is indispensable in
removing iron from quartz sand, but many customers have found that the
processing capacity of the equipment decreases significantly after running for a
period of time. The same opening of the feeding valve resulted in nearly
one-third less discharge. The problem mostly lies in the media box.

The blockage of the media box is the top reason for the decrease in
processing capacity. The media box is composed of multiple layers of magnetic
steel mesh, and the magnetic material accumulates thicker and thicker in the
gaps, making it difficult for the flushing water to clean and gradually blocking
the flow channel. If the flushing water pressure is lower than 0.3MPa or the
nozzle is blocked, the blockage will be faster. The solution is to shut down and
remove the medium box, repeatedly rinse with a high-pressure water gun
(0.6-0.8MPa), and dissolve stubborn blockages by soaking them in 5% dilute
hydrochloric acid for a short period of time. At the same time, check if the
flushing nozzle is blocked.
The deformation or misalignment of the media box also affects the processing
capacity. Frequent disassembly and assembly may lead to frame deformation,
misalignment of magnetic mesh plates, and narrowing of local flow channels.
Check whether the positioning pin is aligned accurately and the frame is flat
every time it is reinstalled. Any deformation should be leveled or replaced in a
timely manner.
Develop the habit of recording processing capacity and current during daily
inspections. If the processing capacity suddenly drops, first remove the media
box and check if it is blocked. Shanlu Heavy Industry can provide suggestions
for cleaning and replacing media boxes according to the on-site situation.
