The quartz sand used for photovoltaic glass has strict requirements for Fe ₂
O Ⅲ content, particle size distribution, and product consistency. Shanlu Heavy
Industry provides specialized production line equipment for photovoltaic sand,
including crushing, screening, grinding, magnetic separation, dehydration, and
grading. It is suitable for the production of finished products with Fe ₂ O Ⅲ
content below 120ppm and particle size concentration in the range of 70-140
mesh.

Taking the typical photovoltaic sand wet purification process route as an
example: the raw ore is roughly crushed and sent to the ZSW high-purity
horizontal sand making machine for intermediate crushing and shaping. The
equipment adopts a horizontal hammer breaking structure, with a discharge
particle size controlled below 5mm and a low proportion of needle like
particles. The crushed material is transported by a belt conveyor to the YTS
drum screen for pre screening, removing -0.5mm fine powder and+5mm coarse
particles. The qualified particle size after screening enters the CTB permanent
magnet drum wet magnetic separator for preliminary selection of strong magnetic
minerals. The magnetic field strength on the drum surface is 4000Gs, which can
effectively remove mechanical iron and magnetite impurities.
The selected slurry enters the wet rod mill for grinding. Unlike ball mills,
rod mills use cylindrical bodies with appropriate aspect ratios and steel rod
media for grinding through linear contact, resulting in less over crushing and a
cubic sand particle shape in the finished product. The wet rod mill designed by
Shanlu Heavy Industry can control the particle size of the output in the range
of 20-140 mesh, accounting for more than 85%, meeting the particle size
distribution requirements of photovoltaic sand. After grinding, the slurry flows
into the hydraulic classifier or linear vibrating screen for particle size
control. The coarse particles on the screen return to the rod mill for further
grinding, while the qualified slurry on the screen enters the next process.
The core process of photovoltaic sand purification lies in deep iron removal.
Shanlu Heavy Industry is configuring an LHC vertical ring high gradient magnetic
separator as the main selection equipment here. The background field strength of
the machine is 1.5T, and the sorting chamber is filled with a magnetic
conductive stainless steel medium mesh, which can capture fine-grained weak
magnetic iron titanium minerals. The treatment effect is better when the slurry
concentration is 25% -35%. After a single magnetic separation, the Fe ₂ O3
content can be reduced from 200-300ppm to below 120ppm. For customers with
higher requirements, Shanlu Heavy Industry can add a DCJ electromagnetic slurry
magnetic separator for scanning after the LHC to further reduce the Fe ₂ O3
content to below 50ppm.
The refined sand after magnetic separation needs to be dehydrated to a
moisture content of less than 12% before it can be packaged and stored. Shanlu
Heavy Industry uses BTC ceramic filter machine for final dehydration. The filter
utilizes the capillary force generated by the micropores of ceramic plates to
achieve solid-liquid separation, without the need for vacuum pump assistance,
saving about 30% of energy consumption compared to traditional filtration
equipment. The filtrate is clear with a suspended solids content of less than
50ppm, and can be directly refluxed to the front-end grinding or magnetic
separation stage for reuse.
In terms of tailings treatment on the production line, Shanlu Heavy Industry
is equipped with a dry discharge system consisting of NM thickener and BK
high-pressure diaphragm plate frame filter press. The thickener increases the
concentration of the tailings slurry from 5% -10% to 45% -50%, and the bottom
flow is sent to the filter press for pressing until the moisture content is
below 12% to form a dry cake, which is convenient for storage or external
transportation. The combined reuse of overflow water and filter filtrate can
achieve a water recycling rate of over 90% in the production line.
