There are strict standards for particle size concentration, angular
coefficient, mud content, and acid consumption of silica sand used in casting.
Shanlu Heavy Industry provides specialized production line equipment for casting

Taking the typical wet process route for casting sand as an example: the raw
sand is fed into the ZSL vertical sand making machine by a feeder for crushing
and shaping. This device adopts the principle of stone crushing, which
accelerates and throws out the material through a high-speed rotating impeller,
and collides with the lining plate or material layer to break it. The particle
size of the discharge is controlled within the range of 0.1-1.5mm, and the
finished sand particles are cubic in shape. The angular coefficient can be
controlled below 1.3, meeting the requirements of the casting process for sand
flowability. The crushed material is transported by a belt conveyor to the YBF
square swing screen for precise grading. The screening machine adopts planar
rotary motion, and the screening efficiency is stable at over 95%. Casting sand
has high requirements for particle size concentration, usually requiring a
proportion of no less than 75% between adjacent sieve sizes. Shanlu Heavy
Industry can separate standard sand ranges such as 40-70 mesh, 50-100 mesh, and
70-140 mesh at once by optimizing the screen configuration and adjusting the
operating parameters of the screening machine.
The mud content of graded sand usually exceeds the standard limit for casting
sand. Shanlu Heavy Industry is equipped with CX scrubbing machines in the
production line for strong scrubbing. The equipment consists of a scrubbing tank
and a high-speed impeller group, which uses high-intensity stirring to make the
sand particles rub against each other and remove the clay and fine mud attached
to the surface. The scrubbing concentration is controlled at 65% -70%, and the
scrubbing time can be adjusted for 10-20 minutes. After scrubbing, the mud
content of the sand can be reduced to below 0.2%.
The cleaned sand material needs to be further removed of iron impurities.
Shanlu Heavy Industry will equip CTB permanent magnet drum wet magnetic
separator at this stage. This device uses rare earth neodymium iron boron
magnetic material, with a magnetic field strength of 4000Gs on the cylinder
surface, which can effectively adsorb particles such as magnetite and hematite.
After magnetic separation, the content of Fe ₂ O Ⅲ in the sand material can be
controlled below 0.08%, meeting the requirements for burning reduction and acid
consumption of casting sand. The refined sand after magnetic separation enters
the DTS vibrating dewatering screen for dewatering. Double layer polyurethane
screen surface, high-frequency vibration, and the moisture content of the
dehydrated sand material can be controlled within 15%. The dehydrated sand
material can be directly stored or sent to the HGS triple return drum dryer for
drying. The dryer has high thermal efficiency and the moisture content of the
discharged material can be controlled within 0.3%.
In terms of tailings treatment on the production line, Shanlu Heavy Industry
is equipped with a dry discharge system consisting of NM thickener and BK
high-pressure diaphragm plate frame filter press. The tailings slurry is
concentrated and filtered to form a dry cake, and the filtrate is reused in the
front-end scrubbing process to achieve water recycling.
