Calcination+magnetic separation+chlorination, standard combination of high-purity sand dry process

High purity quartz sand has extremely strict requirements for Fe ₂ O Ⅲ content, gas-liquid inclusion quantity, and product whiteness. Some application scenarios are sensitive to moisture and wet processes are not suitable. Taking the typical dry purification process route as an example: After crushing and grading the raw ore to 0.5-5mm, it is fed into the calcination furnace by a feeder for high-temperature heat treatment. The calcination furnace designed by Shanlu Heavy Industry is a rotary structure, and the furnace tube is made of heat-resistant stainless steel or corundum material. The working temperature can be set between 800 ℃ and 1100 ℃. The sand material rolls forward in the furnace and is uniformly heated, which can cause the gas-liquid inclusions inside the quartz particles to expand and break due to heat, while also promoting the diffusion of impurity elements such as iron and aluminum in the lattice to the surface of the particles. After calcination, the sand material should be naturally cooled or air-cooled to room temperature to avoid water quenching and the introduction of moisture. The cooled sand enters the CXG high field permanent magnet roller magnetic separator for preliminary iron removal. This device uses rare earth neodymium iron boron magnetic material, and the magnetic field strength on the roller surface can reach over 12000Gs, which is suitable for separating weak magnetic impurities in fine particles in dry materials. The material is evenly distributed onto the surface of the magnetic roller through a vibrating feeder, and the magnetic particles are adsorbed and detached with the rotation of the roller, while the non-magnetic quartz sand falls freely. After CXG magnetic separation, the Fe ₂ O3 content in the sand material can be reduced to below 80ppm.

For products with higher purity requirements, Shandong Heavy Industry has added a DCG high field electromagnetic dry magnetic separator for deep scanning after CXG magnetic separation. The equipment adopts electromagnetic excitation, and the magnetic field strength can be adjusted by current, up to 18000Gs. The magnetic separator is equipped with a vibration feeding device and multi-stage magnetic rollers inside, and the material passes through each level of magnetic field zone in sequence. Weak magnetic particles are adsorbed and separated step by step, and non-magnetic sand is collected as the final product. After DCG magnetic separation, the Fe ₂ O3 content can be further reduced to below 30ppm.

Some high-end high-purity sands still need to remove surface trace impurities and improve surface properties. Shanlu Heavy Industry is equipped with a high-temperature chlorination furnace for chlorination treatment. The chlorination furnace is a rotary structure, and the furnace tube material is made of high-temperature resistant nickel based alloy, with a working temperature of 800 ℃ -1100 ℃. The sand material comes into contact with chlorine gas or chlorinating agent in the furnace, and trace impurities such as iron and titanium on the surface are converted into volatile chlorides and carried away, while the surface of the sand particles is passivated. After chlorination treatment, the whiteness of the sand material can be increased to over 95 degrees.

For scenarios requiring micro powder grade high-purity products, Shanlu Heavy Industry can configure MQX dry fine powder ball mill for ultrafine grinding, and obtain narrow particle size products with multiple specifications in the range of D90=5-45 μ m through QF vertical airflow classifier after discharge. After classification, the micro powder is subjected to final iron removal by an electromagnetic dry powder magnetic separator, which is suitable for powder purification in the range of 10-100 microns and can control the Fe ₂ O3 content below 20ppm.

In terms of dust removal on the production line, Shanlu Heavy Industry is equipped with pulse bag dust collectors to centrally collect dust at various dust points, with emission concentrations below 30mg/m ³. The collected dust can be used as a byproduct or returned for reprocessing based on its purity.
