Flotation is an effective purification method for impurity minerals in quartz
sand that are embedded with fine particle size, have small differences in
specific gravity, and are difficult to separate by magnetic or gravity
separation. Shanlu Heavy Industry provides specialized production line equipment
for quartz sand flotation, including slurry adjustment, dosing, flotation, and
dehydration. It is suitable for quartz sand sources with high silicate
impurities such as feldspar, mica, and tourmaline, and is widely used in the
production of photovoltaic sand, high-purity sand, and special glass sand.

Taking the typical quartz sand flotation purification process route as an
example: after grinding, desliming, and magnetic separation pretreatment, the
quartz sand slurry (concentration 25% -35%, fineness -200 mesh accounting for
more than 60%) is pumped into the mixing and adjusting tank by the slurry pump.
The slurry mixing tank configured by Shanlu Heavy Industry adopts an efficient
stirring device, and the tank volume is designed according to the processing
capacity, which can ensure that the slurry and flotation reagents are fully
mixed and the surface properties are uniform. Shanlu Heavy Industry can
recommend a suitable flotation reagent system based on the analysis report of
the customer's original mineral composition, including the types and amounts of
collectors, frothers, adjusters, and pH adjusters, to accurately match the
flotation process with the material properties.
The slurry after mixing enters the SCF flotation machine for rough selection
operation. The device adopts a DC tank design, with a strong stirring system
composed of stator and rotor. The inflation volume can be precisely controlled
by adjusting the intake valve to meet different slurry concentrations and
inflation requirements. After rough selection, most of the impurities such as
feldspar and mica adhere to the bubbles and float up, and are scraped out.
Quartz sand is enriched at the bottom of the tank to become coarse concentrate.
The coarse foam product (tailings) is further recovered from the quartz
particles entrained in it through sweeping, and the sweeping concentrate is
returned to the coarse separation for further separation, and the sweeping
tailings are discharged into the tailings system.
The coarse concentrate enters the selection operation. Shanlu Heavy Industry
sets up two to three selection operations in the flotation process, with
specific stages determined based on product purity requirements. The
intermediate products between each level of selection are returned to the
previous level of operation, forming a closed-loop loop. After precision
flotation, the content of feldspar in quartz sand can be reduced to below 0.5%,
and the purity of SiO ₂ can be increased to over 99%. The fine sand slurry after
flotation flows into the DTS vibrating dewatering screen for pre dewatering.
Double layer polyurethane screen surface, high-frequency vibration, after
dehydration, the moisture content of the sand material can be reduced to below
18%. The screened slurry enters the NM thickener for sedimentation and
concentration. The bottom flow concentration of the thickener is increased to
45% -50% and then sent to the BK high-pressure diaphragm plate frame filter
press for pressing and dewatering. The feed pressure of the filter press is
gradually increased to 1.2 MPa, supplemented by high-pressure water diaphragm
secondary pressing. If the moisture content of the filter cake is less than 12%,
it can directly enter the subsequent drying or packaging process. The overflow
water from the thickener and the clarified filtrate from the filter press can be
returned to the front-end grinding or slurry adjustment process for
recycling.
The production line is equipped with an LC automatic weighing feeder to
achieve precise control of front-end feeding. The addition of flotation reagents
adopts an automatic metering and dosing system, which continuously and stably
adds according to the set flow rate to avoid manual operation errors. Each dust
point on the production line is equipped with a pulse bag dust collector, with
an emission concentration of less than 30mg/m ³.
