Quartz sand sources often contain a large amount of clay minerals and surface
iron films. If these impurities are not effectively removed at the front end,
they will directly affect the separation efficiency of subsequent purification
processes such as magnetic separation and flotation. Shanlu Heavy Industry

grading, and concentration, suitable for pre-treatment of weathered sand,
sedimentary sand, and quartz sand sources with high mud content. It is an

Taking the typical scrubbing and desliming process route as an example: the
crushed and screened quartz sand (particle size 0.1-5mm, mud content usually 5%
-25%) is sent by a belt conveyor to the CX scrubbing machine for high-intensity
scrubbing operation. The equipment designed by Shanlu Heavy Industry consists of
a scrubbing tank and a high-speed impeller group. The scrubbing concentration is
controlled at 65% -70%, and the impeller linear velocity can reach 6-8m/s.
Through high-intensity stirring, intense friction and collision are generated
between sand particles, and the clay minerals and iron films attached to the
surface are peeled off. The scrubbing time can be flexibly adjusted according to
the mud content of the material, and is usually controlled within the range of
8-20 minutes. The cleaned slurry flows into the DTS vibrating dewatering screen
for solid-liquid separation and coarse particle recovery. The screening machine
adopts a double-layer polyurethane screen surface, high-frequency vibration, and
the coarse sand (+0.3mm) on the screen is dehydrated to a moisture content of
less than 18%, which can directly enter the subsequent magnetic separation or
flotation process. The screened slurry (containing fine mud, fine particles, and
water) enters the hydraulic cyclone group for classification and concentration.
The cyclone unit equipped by Shanlu Heavy Industry is lined with polyurethane,
which has good wear resistance. By adjusting the diameter of the bottom flow
port and the feeding pressure, it can effectively separate -200 mesh fine mud
from+200 mesh fine sand. The bottom flow (fine sand) of the cyclone returns to
the scrubbing machine for washing or enters the magnetic separation process, and
the overflow (including fine mud wastewater) enters the NM thickener for
sedimentation treatment.
The thickener settles and concentrates the solid particles in the mud
containing wastewater, and the bottom stream concentration is increased to 40%
-45% before being sent to the BK high-pressure diaphragm plate frame filter
press for pressing and dehydration. The moisture content of the filter cake is
less than 15%, forming a mud cake for external disposal. The overflow water from
the thickener and the clarified filtrate from the filter press can be returned
to the scrubbing process for recycling, achieving the reuse of water in the
production line.
For mineral sources with high mud content after a single scrubbing, Shanlu
Heavy Industry can configure a two-stage scrubbing system, which operates in
series to further improve the desliming effect. The slurry after secondary
scrubbing is also processed by dewatering screens, cyclones, thickeners, and
filter presses to form a complete scrubbing and desliming closed-loop cycle.
