Does the discharge of the sand making machine become coarse and the hammer head wears out quickly?

2026-08-12

Vertical sand making machines are commonly used in the quartz sand crushing and shaping process. After running for a period of time, the discharge particle size becomes coarser and the hammer head wears faster, which is likely due to the gap between the impact plate and the hammer head not being adjusted in a timely manner.

As the hammer gradually wears out, the distance between its outer end and the counterattack plate will become larger and larger. For every 1mm increase in gap, the proportion of oversized coarse particles in the discharge increases by approximately 3% -5%. When the gap exceeds 1.5 times the initial value, the number of impacts on the material inside the crushing chamber significantly decreases, and the probability of coarse particles leaking through the mesh increases significantly. It is recommended to stop the machine and check the gap once a week. When the wear is close to one-third of the original thickness of the hammer head, replacement or surface adjustment should be considered for use. It is advisable to adjust the gap so that the material can form a good self lining layer inside the cavity, which can protect the body and control the particle size.

During the inspection, check if the wear surface of the hammer head is uniform. If the wear on one side of the hammer is significantly heavier than on the other side, it indicates that the material is unevenly distributed in the crushing chamber, and the position of the feeding port or the angle of the guide plate needs to be adjusted. A hammer with uniform wear can ensure stable crushing effect and a longer replacement cycle.
