Electromagnetic dry powder magnetic separator coil overheating and frequent shutdown

The electromagnetic dry powder magnetic separator is used for deep iron removal of micro powder materials in quartz sand dry purification, but frequent shutdowns caused by coil overheating are a concern for many customers. As the temperature of the coil increases, the magnetic field strength decreases, greatly reducing the iron removal effect and even burning the coil in severe cases.

The main cause of coil overheating is poor cooling water flow. Electromagnetic coils rely on circulating water to carry away heat. When the water quality is unclean or left uncleaned for a long time, scaling and impurities deposit on the inner wall of the waterway, causing the water flow to decrease and the heat transfer efficiency to decrease. It is recommended to check the cooling water flow once a month and touch the temperature difference between the inlet and outlet pipes with your hands. If the temperature difference is too small, it indicates poor heat transfer efficiency. When cleaning the waterway, first blow it with compressed air, and stubborn scale can be dissolved by soaking it in a special cleaning agent. If conditions permit, the open water cooling system can be replaced with a closed loop cooling system to isolate impurities from the source.

The coil cannot withstand long-term overload operation. When the feeding amount exceeds the design processing capacity, the coil needs to continuously output higher excitation current to maintain the magnetic field strength, and the heat generation increases accordingly. Check the reading of the ammeter. If it continues to exceed the rated value by more than 10%, it indicates that the equipment has been in an overloaded state for a long time. The feeding amount should be appropriately reduced or the number of magnetic separators should be increased to disperse the load.

Pay attention to the temperature control instrument during daily operation. When the temperature approaches the warning value, immediately reduce the load or stop the machine for heat dissipation. When the coil temperature is stably controlled below 40 ℃, the equipment operates most reliably.
